After an upsetting loss to the South Garland Colonels last Tuesday, losing the match in the last game, the 2006 H.S. Billiard State Champions the Rowlett Eagles came into the Jan. 19th rescheduled match against the Rockwall H.S. Yellowjackets with one goal...win the match early. And that they did crushing the Yellowjackets round after round. The Eagles went 7-0 in round wins for the match. After each one of their games the Rowlett Eagles players were reporting to the scorekeeper one after the other with declarations of "I won". In round 1 Trey McMullen from the Rockwall H.S. Yellowjackets started off the match with a win over the Eagles Kip Paris. Both of these players were BCA Junior National contenders last summer at the University of Arizona. That was the only win the Yelowjackets could muster losing the next four games to close out the round with the Eagles going 1-0 for round wins.
Logan Elkins with the Eagles, also a BCA Jr. National veteran, went undefeated through the 2nd round along with fellow Eagles Darius Patton and Chad Swoveland. Smiling, Sara Krawec was also excited to report she had won her first game to help the Eagles take the round 7-3. Miguel Chavira from the Yellowjackets won both his games in the 2nd round but the rest of the team were struggling to find a win. ![]() Yellowjackets Josh Plummer and Cameron Radford waiting to play. The 3rd round was almost a repeat of the 2nd round with only Miguel Chavira able to go 2-0 in the round winning 4 games in a row. However, this did not help the Yellowjackets as the Eagles soundly pummelled the Yellowjackets 7-3 once again. Rowlett's Kip Paris found his stroke with two wins with Logan Elkins ending a 4 win streak in the 3rd round. Chad Swoveland was still undefeated in the match with 3 wins to his name. In the 4th and 5th rounds the Eagles once again took both rounds 7-3 with great play from the Eagles Logan Elkins, Chad Swoveland, Keith White and Troy Tynan. The Yellowjacket's Gary Meyers went 3 of 4 in both rounds.
The final 6th round had the Yellowjackets tieing up the round 5-5 with Derek McClendon's two wins against Kip Paris. The Eagles had a great finishing 6th round for the match with Logan Elkins winning 9 of 11 games earning him MVP for the Eagles. Fellow Eagles Chad Swoveland had a great night with 5 of 6 wins, team pairs Keith White and Troy Tynan finshed off the 6th round with both having 4 game win streaks to possibly be extended into next weeks match. They both finished also with very respectable matches by winning 5 of 6 and 4 of 5 respectively. Juan Banda also played well winning his match 3 of 5 as did Darius Patton winning 4 of 6 games. Trey McMullen from Rockwall was the only player winning his match for the Yellowjackets making him the teams MVP for the match. ![]() MVP- Logan Elkins The final score was Rowlett Eagles 37 to Rockwall Yellowjackets 18.
